Little Christmas Tree Pillows Help

So Simple.

I like to use ticking or aged looking cotton. To make your cotton look aged, start with dyeing your  fabric, use tea bags and salt, or cheap instant coffee and salt for a slightly deeper colour. In a large deep pan 2/3 full of water, bring tea bags(around 3) to the boil, and submerge your fabric, when it has reached the depth of colour that you want, wring it out and hang to dry. Also unbleached lighter cotton canvas works really well, make sure you wash it a couple of times to soften it up!

For the crinkled ribbon, use polyester seam binding dyed in tea, left squished up to dry. I used regular satin ribbon with the ticking.

Hoop your dyed cotton with iron interface( it works as a stabiliser, but less stiff when you need turn your pillow insde out). Sew  design, then layer matching fabric on top of the design.

Hard to see, but the sewn pillow outline.

Pop from the hoop, trim and turn inside out. Then fill with stuffing.

Sew up your little pillow and add the ribbon. I use 6lb test fishing line, to sew up my stuff,as it doesn't really show, and is strong.
For the little houses, and the raw edge, sew the design first.
Flip the hoop.

Tape matching fabric to the back.

Sew the outline and pop from the hoop, trim with pinking sheers.
Stuff with polyester, and sew the red ribbon on to it.
